Mark D. Lemasters, 49, of New Martinsville, WV passed away after a short illness on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Mark was born May 24, 1966 in New Martinsville, WV son of Kenneth and Eleanor (Brookover) Lemasters of New Martinsville, WV.

He was a Physical Science, Chemistry, Physics and AP Chemistry teacher at Magnolia High School with over twenty-five years of service, a proud graduate of Magnolia High School Class of 1984, over the years Mark had earned eight different teaching certificates with an AP Certification, he was key in establishing a successful WVU Engineering Honors College partnership that resulted in students receiving college credit for the introductory in engineering courses at a reduced cost. Mark was the primary contact for WVU and this program, he assisted with summer school program, often refusing to take full compensation for his services, wrote a Project Lead the Way proposal, garnering a generous grant to raise STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education to new levels and provided applicable hands-on experiences for STEM students, member of the Wetzel County Schools Twenty Five Year Club, College Engineering Teacher facilitator, Virtual School Teacher facilitator, Class Advisor, Yearbook Advisor, School Photographer, Quiz Bowl Director, Science National Honor Society Advisor, TSA advisor assistant, Technology Integration Specialist, School Technology Coordinator, MHS School Leadership Team, County Literacy Team, Student Council Advisor, Created and Updated the Media Center, Media Center Coordinator, wrote grant for current Project Lead the Way (STEM) for $45,000, Theatre – make-up, costumes, choreography and directed choral and music, Poetry Out Loud co-coordinator, co-coordinator Veteran’s Day Assembly, Glee Club director, Prom walk-in announcer, Sadie Hawkins – “He was the Marrying Sam”, operated the computer at all track team home events, scoreboard operator, ticket sell and photographer at athletic events.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Cora Lemasters, Cecela Brookover, Herbert and Nellie Brookover.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his brother, Waylon (Hannah McGinley) of Orlando, FL; two sisters, Sherry (Chris) Bachman of New Martinsville, WV and Carolyn (Robert) Gatian of Paden City, WV; four nieces and nephews, Katherine, Carlin, Joe and Billy; five great nieces and nephews, Jaycea, Jayden, Chase, Connor, Cecelia and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends received 4-8 p.m., Friday, November 13, 2015 and noon to 5 p.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV this will allow Mark time to make it to the game. Funeral service will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
