Obituary for Larry Keith Hayes

Hayes, Larry K., 76, passed away Monday, November 30, peacefully at home surrounded by his family.

Larry was a minister at Pleasant Valley Church of Christ for 17 years and Piney Church of Christ for 14 years. He was employed at Consolidated Aluminum/Ormet for 38 years as a welder, mechanic and millwright. Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and repairing Lawn-Boy lawnmowers. He also loved music, playing guitar and singing. In recent years he entertained residents of the local nursing homes with his band, Olde Timers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Ruth Kathryn (Brown) Hayes, one sister, Patty Hayes and three brothers, Freddie, Ernest Jay and Jerry “Gabby” Hayes.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Joy D. (Coates) Hayes, and three children, Amy (Don) Kyle, Trevor (Shara) Hayes and Jana Butler; sister, Evelyn Coning; two brothers, John “Bud” (Judy) Hayes and Stephen (Susan) Hayes; fourteen grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where service will be held 2 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2015 with Jeremy Joy officiating.

Interment to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.
