Obituary for John M. Heslep

John Maurice Heslep, 84, of Wheeling, WV formerly of Hannibal, OH went to be with his Lord Sunday, April 10, 2016, with his family at his bedside at Liza’s Place Valley Hospice in Wheeling, WV.

John was born May 22, 1931 in Paden City, WV, third son of the late Wilbur and Mabel (Harrison) Heslep.

He was a retired industrial electrician for the former Consolidated Aluminum Corporation and a U.S. Army veteran that served during the Korean Conflict. The love of his life was his wife, Esta, his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. John’s many hobbies included carpentry, wood working, gardening, watching the evening sunsets at his home in Ohio, and helping his family and friends. John was a member of the First Christian Church of Paden City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, George Heslep and Max Heslep.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-four years, Esta O’Neil Heslep; son, John B. (Susan) Heslep of New Martinsville, WV; two daughters, Candace (Charles “Chuck”) Herrick of Cordele, GA and Jan (Jon) Berardinelli of Wheeling, WV; two brothers, Wilbur (Ann) Heslep of Hannibal, OH and Jerry (Pat) Heslep of Parkersburg, WV; five grandchildren, Stacy (Jason) Parker, Jon (Stephanie) Berardinelli, Brandon Herrick, John Logan Heslep and Evan Heslep; two great grandchildren, Alyssa and Rowen Parker.

The family welcomes friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016 with Pastor Cathy Harman officiating.

Interment to follow in Harter Cemetery in Hannibal, OH.

Graveside military service will be conducted by American Legion Post 760 of Hannibal, OH.
