Obituary for Joel Eldron Glover

Joel Eldron Glover
JOEL ELDRON GLOVER
May 31, 1938 - July 16, 2016

Saturday, we said our final goodbyes in this lifetime to our Dad, Joel Glover, who left us to be with the Lord and those before him. Dad took his last earthly breath surrounded by his children and grandchildren, following a long battle with COPD. Dad was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Claudine; two brothers, Darryl Wayne and Loren Keith, and his parents, Mauna Loa (Wilson) Glover and Harry Bidwell Glover. Dad will be sadly missed by his daughters, Deborah Ann, Kathleen Jo, Kimberly Sue; his son, Joel Damon Glover; grandchildren, Racquel Devoreah Pixler, Drake Donovan Glover, Zackary Damon Glover; his great grandson, Anthony Joseph Pixler; two sisters, Harriett Glover Foley of Virginia and Marlis Glover of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

Dad was born in Moundsville. Upon graduating from Lost Creek in 1956, he served as an E4 GM Instrument Electrician, and Combat Engineer in the U.S. Army. Following honorable discharge in 1959, he continued his service as an E5 in the U.S. Army National Guard and a member of the Army National Guard Rifle Team until 1974. Dad was a talented Master Carpenter, and a member of the Carpenters Union Local of Wheeling, WV. During his lifetime, Dad lived in Alaska where he hunted moose, fished salmon, and was the first to get a speeding ticket while drag racing in Dillingham. He loved fast cars, avid NRA member and passionate about politics.

In lieu of flowers, Dad would have liked it if everyone would vote against Hillary. And although we are in agreement, we ask donations be made to Journey Hospice, 314 S Wells St., Sistersville, WV 26175.

Friends 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, where service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016 with his family officiating.

Honor Guard to conduct military service at the end of the funeral service at the funeral home.
