Obituary for Michael Edward "Mike" Whaley

Michael Edward Whaley, passed away suddenly on March 18, 2017 in Missouri City, Texas at the age of 59. Mike was born on July 13, 1957 in Elyria, Ohio and raised in Paden City, WV. He was the son of Charles Whaley and the late Barbara Henthorn Whaley.

After finishing high school in Paden City, he attended and graduated from his beloved alma mater Marshall University in 1979 with a Bachelors in Business Administration. He was an active member of the Lambda Chi fraternity making everlasting brothers.

Mike began his long career in consulting/project management with a primary focus in oil and gas immediately after college. He met and married his best friend, confidant and love of his life, Elaine. They celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary on February 21, 2017.

Mike was an avid lover of the outdoors. He loved fishing, whitewater rafting, and boating. He was a past president of Texas Offshore Performance Powerboat Squadron – Lake Conroe. He was passionate about NASCAR, loved to travel and was a true Jimmy Buffett Parrothead.

In addition to his wife, Elaine, he leaves behind his father, Charles Whaley of Paden City, sister and brother in law, Michele and Joe Rosenlieb of Clarington, Ohio; his brother, Greg Whaley of Paden City; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary and Mike Arnold of The Villages, Florida;

Friends received noon until time of service at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City with Pastor Sheri Kernik officiating.

Mike lived passionately. He loved life, laughter and all his friends and family especially Elaine. In the 30 years, they were married they made more memories than most in a lifetime.
