Obituary for Doris Geneva Adkins (Carney)

Doris G. Adkins, 89, of New Martinsville, WV died Thursday, March 30, 2017 while at Wetzel County Hospital.

She was born August 15, 1927 in New Martinsville, WV, daughter of the late Carl and Beatrice Edna (Calvert) Carney.

She was a retired nurse’s aide at Wetzel County Hospital, loved cooking and gardening and was a Methodist by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Maxine Blake; four brothers, Wayne Carney, Dale Carney, Burl Carney and an infant.

Surviving are a son, Ralph (Kathy) Richardson of New Martinsville, WV; three daughters, Linda (Rick) Mailey of New Cumberland, PA, Loretta Kidd of Parkersburg, WV and Dinah Adkins of New Cumberland, PA; sister, Wilda (Bill) Witschey of New Martinsville, WV; three grandchildren, Amanda, Megan and Jodi; three great grandchildren Breanna, Tyler and Jace and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2017 with Pastor Mick Frye officiating.

Interment in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, WV.

Family asks that contributions be made, in Doris’ name, to Magnolia High School Basket Ball, 601 Maple Ave., New Martinsville, WV 26155.
