James W. Yoho, 79, of New Martinsville, WV went to be with the Lord Monday June 19, 2017 at home, while surrounded by family and friends in his final days.

Jim was born April 2, 1938 in New Martinsville, WV; son of the late Percy Morgan and Elizabeth F. (Wells) Yoho.

Jim graduated from Magnolia High School Class of 1956. After high school Jim attended and received a bachelor’s degree from Salem College.

After college he briefly taught at Shadyside High School where he proudly coached an un-defeated freshman basketball team. He then worked at CONALCO for many years before retiring in 1994 as a Senior Metallographer. Post retirement Jim indulged in his passion for the oil and gas business where he found much enjoyment and success.

He enjoyed working on his family genealogy, was a member of New Martinsville Moose No. 931; Wetzel Masonic Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M, Scottish Rite 32nd degree, Osiris Shriner and member of the New Martinsville United Methodist Church.

Jim enjoyed all sports, particularly basketball, having worn out many a basketball during his youth. During his senior year at Magnolia he and his teammates posted a fine 17-3 season record. Jim was forever proud of the team and maintained lifelong friendships with many teammates. He was also a recipient of the Magnolia Lifetime Achievement Award in 2010.

He was an avid Mountaineer fan (Beat Pitt!) and longtime football / basketball season ticket holder. He enjoyed hunting / fishing and loved loafing / telling tall tales at his camp at Minnie, WV, with family and lifelong friends.

In younger days Jim bred Black Angus cattle on the same Minnie, WV farm where his beloved parents pastured thoroughbred race horses. He enjoyed having dogs and cats around to keep him busy and was blessed with a number of memorable furry friends during his lifetime.

Surviving are his loving wife of twenty-four years, Judy Yoho; four children, Ben Yoho of Raleigh, NC, JoDell (KD) Ritchea of New Martinsville, WV, James P. Yoho of New Martinsville, WV and Lee Ann (Brian) Ronca of Charlotte, NC; grandson, Ryan (Danielle) Ritchea of Columbus, OH as well as several cousins and many friends.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, June 22, 2017 with Lemoyne Horner officiating.

Interment to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville, WV.
