Obituary for James O. "Jim" Jackson

James O. “Jim” Jackson, 89, of New Martinsville, WV died Tuesday, July 4, 2017 at Wetzel County Hospital while surrounded by his family.

Jim was born August 21, 1927 in Reader, WV, son of the late Martin “Mart” and Brooksie (Howe) Jackson.

He was a retired power plant operator for PPG Industries, a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean Conflict, member of American Legion Marne Post #28, loved to spend time with his family and to travel and member of the First Church of God.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Dillon Jackson and three sisters, Vinita, Jenny and Garnet.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-seven years, Ruth (Rine) Jackson; son, David (Cathy) Jackson of New Martinsville, WV; two brothers, Temple “John” (Glenda) Jackson of Reader, WV and Jerry Jackson of California and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, WV with Pastor Jerry Kuhens officiating.

Honor Guard will conduct graveside services.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are to be made to the Dillon James Jackson Memorial Scholarship Fund, Bayer Heritage Federal Credit Union, 17612 Energy Rd, Proctor, WV 26055.
