Obituary for Jerry Harold Murphy

Jerry Harold Murphy, 76, of Ripley, WV formerly of Paden City, WV died Monday, August 21, 2017 while at Hubbard House in Charleston, WV.

Jerry was born October 9, 1940 in Franklin, WV, son of the late Jesse V. and Beulah (Hartman) Murphy.

He was a retired maintenance foreman with McElroy Coal Mine, a U.S. Marine, member of American Legion Post 86, loved fixing cars, remodeling his house and being handyman, graduate of Flemington High School Class of 1959 and member of Flemington Baptist Church. When Jerry’s name is mentioned everyone will remember that he was a hardworking man who loved life, laughing and his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Murphy.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-four years, Carol Murphy; three sons, Jerry (Kim) Murphy, II of Ripley, WV, Greg (Robin) Murphy of Catawba, NC and Mike (Susie) Murphy of Ripley, WV; brother, Bob (Anna) Murphy of Philippi, WV; ten grandchildren, Ashley, Casey, Myranda, Taylor, Mickayla, Gregory, Logan, Steve, Doug and Mikey; five great grandchildren, Dougie, Caleb, Chase, Mariah and Kayleigh.

Friends received noon until time of service at 2 p.m., Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City with Pastor Joel Frye officiating.

Interment to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.

Honor Guard to conduct graveside services.
