Margaret Ruth Straight Witschey, 83, passed away October 1, 2017, at the New Martinsville Care Center.

She was born July 21, 1934, in Reader to the late James Franklin and Edna Martin Straight. Margaret graduated from Reader High School in 1952 and West Liberty College in 1956. After teaching one year in the Cleveland area she returned to Wetzel County to teach at Steelton Elementary School. She stopped teaching full time in 1971 when she began her family, then was a substitute teacher for two decades. Margaret attended the First United Methodist Church in New Martinsville and later the First Church of God. She enjoyed reading and loved visiting the New Martinsville Public Library.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Walter A. Witschey in 2010; and brother, Louie Straight in 2010.

Surviving are her son, Daniel (Amy) Witschey of New Martinsville; daughter, Ruth (Albert) Lovejoy of St. Cloud, Fla.; sister, Garnet (Mike) Bowsher of Crystal Lake, Ill.; sister-in-law, Linda Straight of Reader; four grandchildren, Augusta and Brianna Lovejoy, and Joellen and Andrew Witschey; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, New Martinsville, where funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Russell Whitener officiating. Interment in the Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the New Martinsville Public Library, 160 Washington St., New Martinsville, WV 26155.
