Obituary for Birdiemae Farley (Martin)

Birdiemae (Martin) Farley, 94, of Paden City, WV died at her home on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

She was born January 31, 1923 in Sistersville, WV; a daughter of the late O. Stephen and Bessie (Varner) Martin.

She attended Sistersville Schools, graduating from S.H.S. in 1941, and employed by C&P Telephone Co. from 1941-51. She married Paul Farley June 10, 1946. She was a member of the Paden City Church of Christ, where she taught children’s Bible classes. Her activities in life were quilting, knitting Barbie clothes, golf, bowling, and shuffleboard in Florida.

She was preceded in death by husband, W. Paul Farley (2014); brothers, Lee W. Martin and John Martin and five sisters, Meryl Greathouse, Mary Westbrook, Ruth Grohe, Selma Forsythe and Jean Gerwig.

Surviving are one son, C. Wayne (Beverly) Farley of Bridgeport, WV; daughter, Judith Ann (Henry) Barnhart; grandchildren, Lisa (Gale) Shreve, Liana (Bryan) Mulgrew and R. James Farley and eight great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, November 24, 2017 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City where funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, November 25, 2017 with Brian Price officiating.

Interment to follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Sistersville, WV.
