Obituary for Phillip Wesley Stoneking

Phillip W. Stoneking, 81, of New Martinsville, WV died Friday, February 16, 2018 while in Hilliard, OH.

Phillip was born January 15, 1937 in New Martinsville, WV; son of the late Fred and Ella (Phillips) Stoneking.

He was a retired brick mason for the former Ormet Corp., a U.S. Army veteran, member of New Martinsville Moose Lodge #931, past Master of Wetzel Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M. where he held several degrees, York Rite degrees of PHP, PMC, Past Commander and the York Rite Knight of the York Cross of Honor, union representative for the U.S. Steelworkers Union, served on Board of Directors for Ohio Valley Community Credit Union, two terms as a Councilman for New Martinsville, avid bowler and member of the Bruce Lanes Hall of Fame, one of the finest Fast Pitch pitchers in the tristate area, served on the Friends of the College at WVNCC, graduate of Magnolia High School, avid sports fan, big supporter of Magnolia, Steelers and the Pirates and member of the Proctor Christian Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Ballouz and Charlene Hafer.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Barbara (McCoy) Stoneking; son, John (Kelly) Stoneking of Grove City, OH; daughter, Kimberly Ann (Jeffrey) Artlip of Vero Beach, FL; sister, Betty Littell of Warren, OH; four grandchildren, Jill Stoneking, Jacob Stoneking, Ben Stoneking and Chris (Jodie) Amos and great grandson, Geordan Bates and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018.

Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by the Wetzel Lodge No. 39 A.F. & A.M.

Interment to follow in Northview Cemetery.
