Obituary for Sheldon "Brooks" Thomas

Sheldon “Brooks” Thomas, 88, of Paden City, WV died Friday, March 23, 2018 while at Wheeling Hospital.

Brooks was born January 13, 1930 in Tyler City, WV; son of the late Laymon Loran and Ollie Leona (Gregory) Thomas.

He retired from PPG Industries after forty-three years of service, a U.S. Army Veteran serving in Italy during the Korean War and member of Paden City Christian Church where he had held several leadership roles. He loved his family, his God and doing Sudoku and other puzzles.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-six years, Phyllis Tippens Thomas; four children, Gregory Brooks (Linda) Thomas of Cross Junction, VA, Steven Loran Thomas and Susan Lynn (Jim) Paden both of Paden City, WV and Brian Keith Thomas of Alpharetta, GA; six grandchildren; one step grandchild; three great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; sister, Sadie Thomas Weekley of Middlebourne, WV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2018 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City, WV where services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 27, 2018 with Marty Coffey officiating.

Interment to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.

Honor Guard will conduct graveside services.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Brooks’ name, to Paden City Christian Church, 105 E Main St., Paden City, WV 26159.
