Obituary for Larry Laird Bennett

Larry Laird Bennett, 94, of Paden City, WV died peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home while surrounded by his family.

Larry was born June 6, 1923 in St. Marys, WV; son of the late Okey and Eliza (Bailey) Bennett.

He was a retired brick mason for the former Ormet corporation, he felt honored to be asked to help lay brick for the new Tyler Consolidated High School, a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII, received a fifty year Gold Card from the mason union; he did a lot of various masonry work throughout Paden City and several surrounding communities – he volunteered his time and skills for the Paden City Park dug outs, various Paden City church projects and the Paden City pool and he was a member of the Paden City Church of Christ.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Audrey Robertson, Agnes Bailey, Gladys Lucas and Nellie Park; three brothers, Webster Bennett, Leslie Bennett and Roy Lee Bennett and a granddaughter, Erika Bennett.

Surviving are his wife of fifty-eight years, Donna (VanCamp); two sons, Greg (Debbie) Bennett of Paden City, WV and Mike (Kerry) Bennett of St. Marys, WV; daughter, Christine (Jarrell) Bailey of Paden City, WV; brother, Alden (Toni) Bennett of Fairmont, WV; eight grandchildren, Jarrell, Chad, Brian, Gabe, Derrick, Taylor, Jordan and Riley; five great grandchildren, Connor, Mickenzie, Layton, Gavin and Aubree and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City, where service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, May 26, 2018 with Brian Price and Martin Coffey co-officiating.

Interment to follow in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, WV.

Honor Guard to conduct graveside services.
