Evelyn “Mackie” Maxine Gilbert, 81, of New Martinsville, WV died Thursday, May 31, 2018 while at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Mackie was born September 26, 1936 on Huff Ridge, WV; daughter of the late Harry L. and Alma G. (Collins) Nice.

She was a retired housekeeper for Wetzel County Hospital. She enjoyed all the special times she spent with Barbara (Bobbie) Yoho. One of her favorite things to do was to go down by the dam, eat lunch and read a book. Mackie was a member of the Steelton Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Ruth Marjorie (Bob) Anderson, William (Auttie) Nice, Mary Jean (Fred) Larrimore, Harry Junior (Imogene) Nice and Shirley Ann Kirkhart Thomas.

Surviving are her sister, Judy Marie (Mike) Long; her nieces, Lana May Giles, Debbie Long, Shawna (David Vazquez) Long, Caroleanne (Randy Barnhart) Williams, Morgan (Cody Elliott) Long, Kenleigh Robinson and Emmalyn Elliott and many others; her nephews, Jim (Jackie) Anderson, Bruce (Joyce) Anderson, John Kirkhart, Gary L. (Christiana Billiter) Kirkhart, Greg (Karen) Kirkhart, Zack Long, John (Betsi) Long, Gary C. Kirkhart, Sammy Tate and many others; her beloved niece and nephew that called her Memaw, Jaden Williams and Steven Williams and her feline friends, Elsa, Mittens and Little Bit.

Friends received 1-5 p.m., Sunday, June 3, 2018 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville where service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, June 4, 2018 with Ed Melott officiating.

Burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville, WV.
