Miller, Effie M. Minger, 75, of New Martinsville, WV died Monday, March 24, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family.

Effie was born November 7, 1938 in Harrisville, WV daughter of the late Emerson Leroy and Blanche Edith Rexroad Layfield.

She was a homemaker, a caregiver and member of the Steelton Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Frederick Minger and son, Dale Robert Minger.

Surviving are her husband, James Miller; three sons, Clarence (Toni) Minger of Clendening, WV, Ron (Candy) Miller of Uniontown, OH and John (Penny) Miller of Wadsworth; three daughters, Diana (Cub) McKinney of New Martinsville, WV, Ruth Minger of Evanston, IL and Sherry (Rocky) Lane of Clinton, OH; two brothers, Fred Layfield of Akron, OH and H. Paul Layfield of Salem, WV; one sister, Ada Simons of Brewster, OH; fifteen grandchildren, Melody (David) Wilkinson, Megan (Doug) Paxton, Michael (Kacie) Minger, Danny (Jill) McKinney, Becky (Phil) Voight, Terry (Megan) McKinnney, Kandi (Eddie) Loy-Kay, Nicole (Jon) Hadley, Natalie Miller, Ron (Melissa) Miller, Jr., Kristina Miller, John Miller, Crystal Lane, Rocky Lane, Jr., Rachel (Joe) Stefan; nineteen great grandchildren.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville where service will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2014 with Ed Melott officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Effie’s name, to Journey Hospice, 314 S Wells St., Sistersville, WV 26175.
