Obituary for Richard Kenneth ""Ken"" Oliver

Oliver, Richard “Ken” Kenneth, 90, of New Martinsville, WV died Thursday, December 04, 2014 at Sistersville General Hospital in Sistersville, WV.

“Ken” was born October 3, 1924 in Burton, WV, son of the late Glen and Helen (Lemley) Oliver.

He was a retired supervisor for Bayer Corp., an U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII and Korean Conflict, member of American Legion Earl Kiger Post 120, member Littleton Lodge #131 A.F. & A.M. in Hundred, WV and member of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Mary Oliver and infant son, Gene Roger Oliver, infant grandson, Brian Michael Oliver and sister, Delores Wade preceded him in death.

Surviving are son, Richard Oliver of Wilmington, NC; two daughters, Glynna (Larry) Higgins and Jennifer (Bob) Miller both of New Martinsville, WV; six grandchildren, Casey (Jeff Thorne) Higgins of Vandenberg AFB, CA, Christopher (Angel) Higgins of Paden City, WV, Chase and Jacob Miller both of New Martinsville, WV, Jessica Davis of St. Albans, WV and Jason Cecil of New York, NY and six great grandchildren, Parker, Aiyana and Jessup Higgins of Paden City, WV, Hayden, Noah and Avery Thorne of Vandenberg AFB, CA and niece, Denise Gorby of Cherry Grove, SC.

Friends received 1 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville. Honor Guard will conduct military service at the funeral home.

Interment in Harmony Baptist Cemetery in Burton, WV at the convenience of the family.
