Obituary for Lyda E. Virden

Lyda E. Virden, 82, of New Martinsville, passed away on May 9, 2019. She was born June 12, 1936 in Point Pleasant, WV. She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew 'Jack' and Irene (Roush) Duncan; her husband, Donald Virden, Sr. and her brother, Larry Duncan.

She was a member of the Paden City Church of the Nazarene. Lyda was an amazing painter. She would travel all over to attend classes by her most beloved artists. Landscapes and barns were some of her favorites to portray. She was also a master gardener. Although she could grow anything and loved them all, she was known for her irises and roses. Lyda spent a long, healthy life traveling to state parks, attending bluegrass festivals, crocheting, reading, and watching her soaps. She was known for her many, many hats and never left home without one.

Lyda is survived by her 3 children Larry (Joyce) Virden of Reynoldsburg, OH, Donald (Lou Ann) Virden, Jr. and Teresa (Paul) Rush all of New Martinsville. 6 grandchildren Nicole Fortney (Les) of New Martinsville, Ben Virden of Oak Ridge, TN, Erica Covey (James) of Jacksonville, NC, Laura Virden (Kevin) of Oak Ridge, TN, Daniel Chomin-Virden (Emma) of Miami, FL, and Jawn Virden (Michaela) of Columbus, OH. Lastly, she leaves behind her pride and joy 9 great grandchildren Jackson, Garrett, Arizona, Nickolis, Galen, KayAnn, Marigold, Elijah, and Noah.

Visitation is Saturday, May 11th from 2-4 PM at the Paden City Church of the Nazarene. Celebration of Life immediately following. Burial in Northview Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
