In 1940 she married Richard “Coke” Kannan who passed away August 10, 2005. Izzy, with her husband, owned and managed Kannan’s Variety Store in Paden City, WV for twenty-eight years. She loved making pies and crocheting hats for charity, making hundreds of them.

My parents, Sue and Chuck Crookshanks, knew both Coke and Izzie while living here in Paden City. Their variety store was one of my fondest memories of them and also having occasional "drop in" visits by them to see Mom after Dad passed away. My parents enjoyed their company and I did as well. Your Mom will be sadly missed and I pray for God to bless and comfort you!

There are so so many! Who knew that when chris & I moved in next door 12 years ago we would become such great friends! I will truly miss our companionship! I have spent countless hours sitting on her back porch or mine together discussing the day. I will forever miss her phone calls asking if there was time to sit on the porch today, the calls for the countless fresh goodies she'd made for us (fresh homemade bread, pies, cookies, creamed peas and name it) she spoiled us, all our funny stories we've laughed about over the years like her asking chris to take care of a bees nest for her once it got dark and her and I hiding in our houses, her at her back door and me at the bedroom window yelling back and forth laughing while the bees were after Chris or when her and I would try to cover up the blueberry bush from the birds and we were laughing hysterically and her saying "this is worse than trying to dress an elephant!! Man, she was funny!! She loved to help me in the garden and give me advice and I will never be able to pick and snap beans without thinking of her. We have spent tons of hours sitting together on the porch snapping beans!! She was truly one of a kind and my heart is broken but I know she was happy to see Coke again. Who knew that when a couple young kids moved in next door we would find the friendship we did!!!!! Truly Blessed to have known her!!! April & Chris Armstrong
