Obituary for Van Warren Morris

Van Warren Morris, 93, of Hannibal, OH died Wednesday, October 23, 2019 while at his home.

Van was born March 9, 1926 in Paden City, WV; son of the late Amos Presley and Ressie Victoria (VanCamp) Morris.

He was a retired guidance counselor at River High School the first one at the new River High, he was the first band director of River High School, veteran in the U.S. Army, organist and pianist for several of the area churches, member of the Retired Teachers Association, VFW Post 2446 in Hannibal, WVU Alumni and member of the Hannibal United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Morris (2016), two sisters, Louise Iams and Evelyn Schupbach and two brothers, Luke Morris and James Morris.

He is survived by son, Robert Morris of Woodsfield, OH; two daughters, Ressa (Jerry) Jackson of Marietta, OH and Julia Morris of Woodsfield, OH; four grandchildren, Summer (Scott) Welch, Jordyn Jackson, Michaela (Nick) Murdy and Julian (Mika) Hartshorn; five great grandchildren, Allison, Alayna and Nicholas Welch and Ave and Magdalen Murdy and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 & 6-8 p.m., Friday, October 25, 2019 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV. Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Hannibal United Methodist Church in Hannibal, OH. Burial to follow in the Harter Cemetery in Hannibal, OH.
