Obituary for Kay Parks (Riel)

Kay Riel Parks, 79, of New Martinsville died Wednesday, October 30, 2019, surrounded by her family, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after a brief illness.

She was predeceased by her parents, Nancy (Melott) Riel and Frank Wesley Riel.

Kay was a church organist for over sixty years, playing for the First Presbyterian Church of New Martinsville and Steelton Methodist Church. She was a volunteer EMT for the Wetzel County Ambulance Service for twenty years. Kay and her family owned and operated the Classic Store in Steelton for many years. She loved music, gardening, shopping and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of the New Martinsville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her four children, Cristi Parks (Alan DeWitt) of Pittsburgh, PA, Jeff (Jaye) Parks of Statesville, NC, Pam (Buddy) Moore of Cass, WV and Amy (Todd) Chambers of Zionsville, IN; seven grandchildren, Lemuel (Tabitha) Moore, Jessica Moore, Kyle Parks, Jonathan (Stratton) DeWitt, Joseph DeWitt, Matthew Chambers and Bennet Chambers; three great grandchildren, Haley, Caleb and Bella Moore; three sisters, Sally Long, June Hubbard and Judy (Gary) Lemons and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received noon – 4 p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville where service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, November 4, 2019 with Mike Shank officiating. Burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Kay’s name, to either New Martinsville United Methodist church or First Presbyterian Church of New Martinsville.
