Obituary for Jakob Ross Hassig

Jakob Ross Hassig, of New Martinsville, WV, passed away on October 23 suddenly and peacefully at home in Denver with his wife.

Jakob is survived by his wife, Tanna Cooper Hassig; his parents, Deborah (Ali) and Logan Hassig, and his sister and nephews, Rachael, Blue and Marin Gardner.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Nathan Hassig; and his brother-in-law, Stephen Gardner.

There are so many things that characterize Jakob: his passion for music, West Virginia Mountaineers, friends and family, his knowledge of random facts, and his marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Tanna.

Jakob could keep you going for hours with stories and past times. He was the true definition of an “in the moment” guy. He spread love and positivity everywhere. His willingness to help others and genuinely care about the people around him is something that will be grounded in his friends and family forever. When you saw him with the people he loved, you couldn’t see anything but a smile coming from Jakob. He will forever be missed, but never forgotten. Rest easy Jakob, may you live in us forever.

A celebration of his life will be held in New Martinsville, WV on December 14. A second celebration and spreading of ashes will take place in the spring in Crested Butte. Details to be announced closer to the respective dates.
