Obituary for Ralph Glenn Slider

Ralph “Glenn” Slider, 78, of Paden City, WV passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, January 13, 2020.

He was born May 8, 1941 at his home in Paden City, WV; son of the late William “Brandy” and Phyllis (Weaver) Slider.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Randy Lynn Slider and Richard Boyd Slider and an infant sister, Turah Ann Slider.

He was married to Jo Ellen Dailey on October 11, 1962. They had two daughters, Kelly (David) Schultheis and Kathy (Scott) Goins; grandchildren, Cody Goins, Daulton Schultheis, Devon Goins, Shelby Schultheis and Cyrus Stillwagner; three siblings, Darlene Meeks, Victor Lee (Donna) Slider and Gary (Wendy) Slider.

Glenn was very active throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with Randy. He played golf, softball and was an active bowler. He served in the Navy for twenty years as an Anti-Submarine Warfare Specialist. He served on the ship USS Yorktown, went on four Apollo Recovery missions (8, 10, 11 and 13). He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, NRA, WV Citizens Defense League and served as an EMT for the Paden City Emergency Squad for ten years.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2020. Honor Guard to conduct military rites.

Memorial contributions may be made, in Glenn’s name, to the charity of your choice. Dad donated to Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude.
