Arthur “Art” P. Oger, 90, of Paden City, WV died Saturday, February 15, 2020 while at Marietta Memorial.
Art was born August 22, 1929 in Moundsville, WV; son of the late Paul and Helen (Vanderbush) Oger.
He was a retired pipefitter for the former Union Carbide. A U.S. Army veteran having served in Korean War. He was a member of Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Paden City, where he had served as a lector. Past member of the Paden City Ambulance Squad and served as second ward councilman for Paden City. Lifetime member of 40 & 8 Voiture 170, W.A.L.P.A., American Legion #86, DAV #4, Knights of Columbus #1907, Elks #333, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2281 and Loyal Order of Moose #931. Started out as a Vice Commander of Post 86 and went as far as WV State Commander holding almost every position in between. On the Department level, he has served as Department Vice-Commander (1974), Department Chairman for the Oratorical Contest Program, Staff member of Mountaineer Boys’ State and on various Committees. He was selected as West Virginia’s Blue Cap Legionnaire of the Year for 1982-1983. On the National level, he represents West Virginia on the Children and Youth Commission for Region 2. Member of the combined Color and Honor Guard.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by wife, Twila K. (Wilson) Oger.
Surviving are his two daughters, Mr. & Mrs. Sandy (Donnie) Stevens of Chesterhill, OH and Ms. Diane Tondo of Aliquippa, PA; three grandchildren, Mr. & Mrs. Donnie (Nichole) Stevens II, Ms. Renee Stevens and her fiancée, Ryan Enos and Mrs. & Mr. Liz (Dan) Ciucci; six great grandchildren, Mr. Keegan Stevens, Mr. Gavin Stevens, Mr. Zayn Stevens, Ms. Hadley Enos, Mr. Alex Enos and Mr. Trenten Ciucci.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-7:30 on Monday, February 17, 2020 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City. Mass of Christian burial will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Mater Dolorosa Catholic Church in Paden City with Msgr. Kevin Quirk officiating.
Rosary vigil will be held 7:30 p.m., on Monday, February 17, 2020.
Burial to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.
