Obituary for David Everett Riel
David E. Riel, 73, of New Martinsville, WV passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at his home.
David was born June 26, 1947 in New Martinsville, WV; son of the late Everett Arnold and Mildred (Dunlap) Riel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Riel.
Surviving is his aunt, Edna Riel of New Martinsville and some cousins, including Wayne Riel and his family. Dave had many friends in the music community in the local area. His surviving band members and many friends will miss him dearly.
He was a retired long haul truck driver and a graduate of Magnolia High School. Dave was one of the founding members of the “Talismen”, a local rock and roll band formed in 1963. Dave’s unique style of guitar took the band to tri-state popularity for a period of over forty years. He’s pictured here with his favorite Fender Stratocaster guitar doing what he loved to do best in life. Dave was still active after his retirement, taking care of his aunt Edna Riel.
At David’s request private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
