Obituary for James Martin "Tate" Longwell

James “Tate” M. Longwell, 64, of New Martinsville, WV passed peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 6, 2021 while surrounded by his family.

Tate was born January 31, 1957 in Wheeling, WV; son of the late James W. and Delores “Babe” (Oliver) Longwell.

He was a retired welder for AEP, enjoyed playing various musical instruments and singing, he was a fan of WVU Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Steelers, he was an avid fan of the Andy Griffith show and a member of the Proctor Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife of thirty-nine years, Janey (Huggins) Longwell; son Philip Longwell of New Martinsville, WV; daughter, Belinda (Cassie Pierce) Longwell of Sistersville, WV; two brothers, Sam (Karen) Longwell of Hundred, WV and Trenton Longwell of Mannington, WV; two sisters, Peggy “Dodi” (Ronnie) Talkington and Janet (Donald “Jake”) Wyckoff both of Mannington, WV; three grandchildren, Paige, Mackenzie and Gage and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Tate’s request private services will be held for the family with burial to follow in the Potts Cemetery near Long Valley, WV.
