Obituary for Sarah Lou Bland (hammett)
Sarah Lou Bland, 82, of New Martinsville, WV died peacefully Monday, April 4, 2022 while at Genesis New Martinsville.
Sarah was born August 14, 1939 in Pennsboro, WV daughter of the late Arthur and Mamie (Dotson) Hammett.
She was a homemaker, had a green thumb when it came to houseplants and flowers, enjoyed dressing up for style and fashion, wearing jewelry, member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 and the Bridge Street Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Bland and sister, Virginia “Jenny” Davis.
Surviving are her six children, David McCune of Hannibal, OH, Scott (Sherry) McCune of Fly, OH, Matt (Christy) Bland of New Martinsville, WV, Bob (Alita) Bland of Wheeling, WV, Iris “Deaner” (Jim) Isaac of New Martinsville, and Jack Bland of Conway, Virginia; brother, Mike Hammett of WV; twelve grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Thursday, April 7, 2022 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Friday, April 8, 2022 with Paolo Di Luca officiating. Burial to follow in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, WV.
