Obituary for Michael Vernon "Mike" Craycraft

Michael “Mike” Vernon Craycraft, 82, of New Martinsville, WV passed from this life on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 while at Sistersville Hospital while surrounded by his wife of fifty-two years, Patricia “Pat” and his sons, Tony and Joe.

Mike was born November 11, 1939 in Ashland, KY, son of the late Willis “Bill” C. and Mary Margaret (Bunch) Craycraft.

Following graduation from business school, Mike served as a Field Office Manager for thirty-seven years, before retiring from Kvaerner Metals. He was also a co-owner and operator of Bruce Bowling Lanes and served his country in the U.S. Airforce. A former Regional Professional bowler, Mike loved golfing, especially with his brother and sons. He was a lifetime member of New Martinsville Moose Lodge #931, past president of and coach for New Martinsville Little League Baseball, former coach and board member for the Charlie Morris Grasshopper Basketball League, Boy Scout Leader of Troop #149, and member of the New Martinsville United Methodist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two infant siblings and brother, Keith Craycraft (2022).

Surviving are his wife, Patricia “Pat” (Jennings) Craycraft; two sons, Tony (Stephanie) Craycraft of Alabaster, AL and Joe (Marsha) Craycraft of Wheeling, WV; sister, Debbie Meredith of Interlachen, FL; six grandchildren, Laikyn, Emma, Brady, Hayden, Sarah and Cooper; and nephew, Derek Meredith.

Friends received noon – 4 p.m., Sunday, June 19, 2022 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, funeral service will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 20, 2022 at the New Martinsville United Methodist Church on Howard Jeffers Dr., with Pastor Stephen Rector officiating with burial to follow in Northview Cemetery with military honors.
