Obituary for Doris Jean Bailes (Hager)

Doris Jean (Hager) Bailes of Paden City, WV passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, July 30, 2022 at the young age of 88. She was born in Brownsville, PA on October 29, 1933. Doris lived a very full life filled with love and laughter surrounded by family.

Doris was survived by her three daughters, Sundee Cowger of Warren, OH, Wendy Bailes of Newbury, OH and Bobbie (David) Smith of Middlebourne, WV; grandchildren, Valerie, Georgette, Anastasia, Tracy, Chuckie, Kyle, Colleen, Katie, Becky, Amanda, Duncan, Samantha, Raphe and David; great grandchildren, Zachary, Theresa, Furana, Emma, Taylor, Bailey, Vanessa, Briann, Lauren, Dean, Jaydalynn, Isaac, John, Hunter and Zoey.

Doris lived in many places throughout her life such as Warren, OH, Leetsdale, PA and East Liverpool, OH where she had many family members and friends whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Bailes; daughter, Robin Templeton, three sisters and a brother. Doris enjoyed being a Red Cross Volunteer for many years of her life and helped during many natural disasters. She was a member of the Palm Rebekah Lodge No. 157 out of New Martinsville, WV and a lifelong member of the Rebekah Organizations in many states over the years.

She was a devoted grandma who at any given time had multiple grandchildren staying with her for the summer. She also loved her great-grandchildren very much and had a special bond with “Her Boy” John. She taught her family many things over the years, but most importantly she taught them how to laugh. Her memory will live on for a million reasons from the smell of fried potatoes, her yelling “cork-it”, summers by the pool and the couch that bit your toes. Her love and warmth will last a lifetime for everyone who had the chance to know her.

At her request there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to charity of donor’s choice.
