Obituary for Ronald Max Long

Ronald Max Long, 84, of Silver Hill, WV died Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Wheeling Hospital.

Ronald was born May 5, 1938, in Silver Hill, WV son of the late Claude and Inez (Miller) Long.

He retired after forty years as a mechanic for Ormet. He was a member of the Silver Hill VFD since its formation in 1982, member of New Martinsville Moose No. 931, and a lifelong farmer who enjoyed talking to (and sometimes yelling at) the cows. Ron enjoyed playing cards.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Melba (Cecil) Long; four sisters, Ilene Wiegand, Wilda Musgrave, Sandra Blake and Arla Pethal and grandson, Justin Long.

Surviving are his four sons, Steve (Cindy) Long of Bee Bee, WV, Jerry Long and David Long both of New Martinsville, WV and Dennis (Jaime) Long of Silver Hill, WV; six grandchildren, Brandan, Travis, Jason, Trevor, Hayley and Jesse; eight great grandchildren, Jaykub, Tailynn, Willow, Liam, Peyton, Avery, Madison and Amelia; two sisters, Ila Mae (Gene) Musgrave and Noel Anderson both of Wileyville, WV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

At Ron’s request there will be no services. Burial at the convenience of the family in the Jolliff Cemetery.
