Obituary for Rita Camille Barkes (Alexander)
Rita Camille Barkes, 81, of Paden City, WV left this world on Sunday, September 18, 2022 while at Wetzel County Hospital while surrounded by her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.
Rita was born January 31, 1941, at home in Paden City, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Hattie (Jones) Alexander.
She had been a florist for many years, graduate of Paden City High School Class of 1959, volunteered as an EMT for Paden City Ambulance, loved crafting, spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards in her card club. Rita was a member of the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Paden City.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Braxton Barkes; grandson, Anthony Joseph Herrick and three brothers, Gary, Carroll, and Dal Alexander.
Surviving are two daughters, Kelli (Arthur) Anderegg of Bethlehem, PA and Karrie (Phil) Herrick of New Martinsville, WV; two grandchildren, Braxton (April) Herrick and her granddaughter.
Friends received noon until time of service at 2 p.m., on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at the St. Paul United Methodist Church with Pastor Malcolm Detwiler officiating. Burial to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV. Arrangements entrusted to Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City.
