Obituary for Lloyd L King

Lloyd L King, 94, of New Martinsville, WV ended his earthly life to be with his loving wife Evelyn November 6, 2022. He was born in a tiny house near Reader, WV September 9, 1928 and grew up working on a farm a few miles away.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Ray King and mother Thelma King, wife Evelyn P. King, older brother and sister-in-law Russell and Marian King, younger sister and brother-in-law Rose and Frank Higginbotham and sister and brother-in law Frances and Bill Boggs. He is survived by his son Robert (Bob) King, daughter-in-law Kay Lemasters King and grandson Tim King, step grandsons Brian Davis, Chad Davis and Danny Davis and 7 step greatgrandchildren, his brother and sister-in-law Max and Navella King and during his latter years a special friend Kay Morris.

Lloyd and Evelyn married June 25, 1950, the day the Korean War began. Shortly after, he was drafted by the Army, and he served 2 years stateside in Virginia. When leaving the service, they moved to New Martinsville. Lloyd worked at the Aluminum Rolling Mill and Evelyn worked at the Tax Office where they both retired.

Lloyd loved to trout fish and hunt. After he retired, he loved to work in his vegetable garden. He was a devout Christian and served many years as an elder of the Steelton Church of Christ.

Many thanks go out to the staff at Harmony Assisted Living in Morgantown, Henry Clay Villa in Markleysburg, Pa., and to Heather and Holly with hospice and to all the many thoughts and prayers and cards from friends and family.

Lloyd will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Friends received 4-7 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St, New Martinsville, WV where services will be held 2:30 p.m., Sunday, November 13, 2022 with Brent Gallagher officiating. Burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville, WV.
