Obituary for Josephine "Jo" Cartwright (White)
Josephine “Jo” Cartwright, 77, of New Martinsville, WV peacefully left this world on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at her home while surrounded by her family.
Jo was born March 6, 1945, in Knob Fork, WV daughter of the late Ray C. and Olive (Powers) White.
She was a homemaker; loved spending time with her family and shopping; enjoyed going to country music shows around the valley, going on vacations and traveling and of course the best thing was trips to McDonald’s. She was a member of the Steelton Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by nine siblings, Robert White, Ercile White, Junior White, Arley White, Roger White, Bill White, Garnet Watkins, Cora Vasquez and Esty Kondus.
Surviving are her three children, Tammy Thackston of Pawley’s Island, SC, Jack (Gena) Cartwright of New Martinsville, WV and Todd Cartwright of Paden City, WV; brother, Ronnie (Duska) White of Littleton, WV; sister, Emily (Roger) Hennen of New Martinsville, WV; five grandchildren, Tyler, Alex, Lexie, Brody and Josie; three and one half great grandchildren, Mia, Weston, Hazel and a little one she was hoping to meet mid-2023; very loyal friend, Hubert Morris of New Martinsville, WV; best friend, Betty Shephard of New Martinsville, WV and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, where funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023 with burial to follow in Northview Cemetery in New Martinsville, WV.
