Obituary for Orven Harlin "Sonny" Powell Jr.
O. “Sonny” H. Powell, Jr., 85, of Sardis, OH died Monday, February 27, 2023 while at Camden Clark Hospital.
Sonny was born December 26, 1937, in Mannington, WV son of the late Orven H. and Audra (Hudson) Powell, Sr.
He was a retired instrument man for Bayer Corp. with thirty-seven and a half years of service, lifetime member of the Car Crafters in Mannington, WV, Co-VP of Car Cruisers Unlimited, he loved cars especially his 1934 Chevy and a Christian by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildreth Saporito and Esther Hennis and a brother, Denny Powell.
Surviving is his wife of twenty-nine years, Pamela (Stewart) Powell; three daughters, Cheryl (Charles) Murdock of New Martinsville, WV, Kathy (Donald) Knowlton of Sardis, OH and Diane (Chad) Andreponte of Lake Charles, LA; three sons, Richard (Erin) Powell of Charlotte, NC, Scott (Helen) Powell of California and David Peckens of Frisco, TX; ten grandchildren; one great grandchild and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where service will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, March 2, 2023 with burial to follow in the Sardis Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
