Obituary for Donald Wayne Fouchs

Donald Wayne Fouchs, 61, of New Martinsville, WV passed away March 10, 2023 at Wheeling Hospital from heart complications.

Don was born October 29, 1961 in New Martinsville, WV. He was the son of the late Walter R. and Nancy L. (Goddard) Fouchs.

He graduated from Paden City High School and Wetzel County Career Center in 1980. His first job out of school was as a cook at KFC for a year, and he hated every minute of it. During that time he was introduced to Karen Postlethwait through mutual friends. They married later that year, in November of 1985. He went on to work as a fork-lift operator and supervisor at Coronet Foods, a ladle carrier at Wissmach Glass, and a window installer at Sprouse Aluminum before becoming a truck driver and mechanic for 15 years at Westbank Harbor Services in Sardis, OH. On the side, he was a farmer, auto-body mechanic and general handy-man.

Don was a friend to everyone he met and loved to carry on a conversation. He was a kind, caring and unimaginably generous man who never said no to helping anyone, friend or stranger. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, taking trips to the mountains, and taking care of his cattle and chickens. He was a Christian by faith and a member of the Paden Fork Chapel Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father-in law, Gail C. Postlethwait; brother-in-law, Chris Moore; nephew, Gabriel I. Lynch, and great-niece, Hannah N. Young

He is survived by his wife, of thirty-seven years, Karen S. Fouchs; daughter, Amanda (Philip) Miller of Atlanta, GA; son, Nathan (Stephanie) Fouchs of Whitehall, OH; brother, Walter R. Jr. (Kay) Fouchs of Paden City, WV; two sisters, Joanie Spencer of New Martinsville, WV and Barbara (Mike) Lynch of Friendly, WV; one sister-in-law, Sandra (Paul) Martin of New Martinsville, WV; fur-baby beagle, April; six nieces, two nephews, and several great-nieces and nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Homes in Paden City where service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2023 with Dale Dudgeon officiating.

Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made in Don’s name to Paden Fork Chapel Christian Church, 2645 Van Camp-Paden Fork Rd, New Martinsville, WV 26155.
