Obituary for Nelda Loraine Joy (Cecil)
Nelda L. Joy, 87, of New Martinsville, WV went to sleep peacefully on Friday, March 24, 2023 at her home.
Nelda was born September 3, 1935, on Rush Run, Wetzel County, WV daughter of the late George and Mary Edna (Melott) Cecil.
She was a sales clerk for the former Fisher’s Big Wheel, enjoyed cross-stitching and singing and was a member of the Friendly Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Joy; daughter, Donna Swager and sister, Dora Mae “Lucy” Wade.
Surviving are her three sons, Gary Joy of New Martinsville, WV, Richard (Trish) Joy of Kent, WV and James Joy of New Matamoras, OH; two brothers, Arnold Cecil of New Martinsville, WV and Bob Cecil of Middlebourne, WV; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Friends received 4-7 p.m., Monday, March 27, 2023 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City where funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2023 with Jonathan Kerns officiating. Burial to follow in Paden Memorial Gardens in Paden City, WV.
