Adam Cory Wood, 31, of Paden City, WV passed from this realm and into the next on June 4, 2023 at his home.
Adam was born August 2, 1991 in Charleston, WV son of Susan L. Spence and the late David L. Wood. He grew up in Paden City, WV and graduated from Paden City High School. After graduation he completed 'The 13th Year' program at MOVTI and received his welding certification. He then started his working career as an employee at Wal-Mart, later became a general laborer in the oil and gas industry, and then went on to work alongside his Dad opening and closing pools.
‘Woody,’ as he was known by many, was an avid outdoorsman. You could often find Adam fishing along the streams, hunting amongst the fields, or practicing his duck/turkey calls in the kitchen! One thing that was always certain, his adventures never failed to bring home a hilarious tall tale. Adam had immense love and appreciation for good music. Whether classic rock, old country, or a smooth hippie tune he couldn’t help but soulfully sing every line to all his favorite songs. The most joyful moments for Adam were spent around family, the pride of his life- neph’PEW’ Lloyd Clayton Lee, and his treasured pups Sadie Pants, Stormie Martha Washington, and Ellie Edgar.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Arnold (Mabel) Wood of Chapmanville, WV and John (Helen) Ott of Paden City, WV. Uncle Mark Wood and his beloved cousin Christina (Missy) Wood Elliott of Chapmanville, WV.
Surviving in addition to his mother is his sister, Kelsi Wood (Joseph Lewis) of Paden City, WV; childhood best friend and lifelong brother, Joshua Mylar; uncles Craig (Mary) Wood, Randy (Shirley) Wood, and Mike Wood all of Chapmanville, WV and William (Deborah) Ott of Fairmont, WV and several cousins and friends whom he genuinely kept dear.
Friends received 3-7 p.m., Monday, June 12, 2023 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m., at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Hurricane, WV.
