Obituary for Charles R. Snider
Charles R Snider, 100, of New Martinsville, WV peacefully left this world on Friday, July 14, 2023, at his home with his family by his side.
Charlie was born February 11, 1923, in Pine Grove, WV, son of the late Jesse and Dolly Mae (Locke) Snider.
He was a WWII veteran, serving as a member of the United States Army Air Corps, stationed in England and Ireland. He was a retired member of the Operators Union, Local 132 and a member of the American Legion Post 28 in New Martinsville. He was a collector of Antique 'Hit and Miss" gas engines and traveled to many shows in WV, PA and OH. He also had a grist mill and ground corn meal for friends and neighbors and the Tyler County Fair Association for many years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Freda G "Bet" Snider; step-father, William Phillips; one sister, Ruby Hartline; and two brothers, William and Hugh Snider.
Surviving is his daughter, Arlene Amos (Charlie) Jones; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Carl) Hall and two great granddaughters, Julie and Claire Hall.
Friends received 5-7pm Monday, July 17, 2023, at the Jarvis Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge Street, New Martinsville. Graveside services, with military honors, will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville.
