Eileen C.  Smittle
Eileen C. Smittle, 96, of Paden City, WV went home to be with her Lord, Saturday, February 20, 2016 while at Sistersville General Hospital.

Eileen was born October 2, 1919 in Wileyville, WV, daughter of the late Kinsey W. and Osgay (Postlethwait) Calvert, Sr.

She was a homemaker, former first lady Mayor for Paden City for twelve years, former first lady councilwoman for thirteen years, member of Paden City Women’s Club, past treasurer American Legion Auxiliary Unit #86, past secretary for the Wetzel County Ambulance Authority, member of the American Red Cross for thirteen years, past secretary for the Mid-Ohio Valley Mayors Association, past member of the Board of Directors for the WV Municipal League and Wetzel County Red Cross, National EMT, past treasurer of the Paden city Emergency Squad, life member of the Paden City Fire Department Auxiliary, Paden City Flag Committee and founder of the Paden City Youth Center, graduate of Magnolia High School 1937, member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Sistersville and member of Paden City Christian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Nook” Smittle, Jr. two sisters, Geneva Rawe and Madelyn “Mack” Harman; brother, K.W. Calvert, Jr. and son-in-law, Glenn Fitzgerald.

Surviving are three sons, Walter (Barbara) Smittle, III of Ripley, WV, Lance (Pam) Smittle of Paden City, WV and Jan Keith (Linda) Smittle of New Martinsville, WV; daughter Barbara Fitzgerald of New Martinsville, WV; two grandsons, Walter Matthew (Debbie) Smittle and Jonathan Glenn (Nicole) Smittle; four granddaughters, Stacey (Mike) Lanham, Sunni Marie (Eric) Danielson, Leslie Leann (Jon) Kelly and Lacy Jane (Chris Henthorn) Knight; eleven great grandchildren, Kaleb Danielson, Laney Worzalla, Wes Kelly, Rylee Knight, Sidney Knight, Kelsey Smittle, Jonah Smittle, Samuel Smittle, Britney (Brad) Ross, Derek Ratledge and Corey (Michele) Lanier; three great great grandchildren, Conner Lanier, Cooper Lanier and Bryce Ross and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home in Paden City. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Paden City Christian Church with Jeff White officiating.

Interment in the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV at the convenience of the family.
