George Weimer “Sonny” Sebar, 89, of New Martinsville, WV died Monday, October 2, 2017 at home while surrounded by his family.

Sonny was born May 4, 1928 in New Martinsville, WV, son of the late Weimer M. and Violet M. (Hitchcock) Sebar.

He was a retired insulator for Bayer, a U.S. Army veteran, member of New Martinsville Moose #931, American Legion Post #28 and Sistersville VFW Post 6327. He loved boating, camping, dancing and golfing-at the age of 82 he was the winner of the Moose Golf Tournament. A devoted Magnolia sports fan and member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in New Martinsville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Sebar; grandson, Matt Sebar; sister, Rosemary Ebbert; two infant brothers, Billy and Lemoyne Sebar.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-five years, Patty (King) Sebar; two sons, Timothy W. Sebar of New Martinsville, WV and George Todd Sebar of Shadyside, OH; two daughters, Antoinette “Toni” (James) Long and Traci (Chuck) Ludewig both of New Martinsville, WV; twelve grandchildren, Megan Sebar, Jamie Long, Aaron (Alana) Long, Amanda Long, Evann (Jon) Jacks, Padyn Ludewig, Taylor Ludewig, George Tyler Sebar, Josh Robinson, Paige Robinson and Jacob Bohrer; great granddaughter, Lenieca Grimm and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends received 2-8 p.m., Thursday, October 5, 2017 at the Jarvis-Williams Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11a.m., Friday, October 6, 2017 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Symeon Galazka as celebrant.

Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Park in New Martinsville, WV.

The Honor Guard will conduct graveside services.
